It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like HALLOWEEN!

In addition to being a doll lover, I'm also a huge Halloween lover, so what could be better than Barbies and Halloween?? Since 1997, Target has released a Halloween doll every year and every year, I buy them. In 2000, the first Halloween Barbie was released for general release. These dolls are also known as Grocery Store Halloween Barbies, as this is where they have mainly been released, but I was also able to find some at Walgreens.

The majority of Barbie's costumes have been witches, which have frustrated some collectors, but I enjoy them all. Personally, I rather like all of the witches. I can have my own little Barbie coven! Other costumes have included a gypsy fortune teller, a ghost, a spider princess, at least three cat-themed outfits and a pumpkin.

Barbie's little sister Kelly has been released every year as well except for 1998, when Barbie attended a Halloween Party with Ken. She returned the next year and brought some friends with her. Kelly and her friends have been released every year since then. Some of the sets have included five dolls with an African American doll dressed in the same outfit as one of the other girl dolls, but other years have had six dolls with the sixth doll being the African American doll dressed in the same outfit as another of the dolls.

The Barbie Collector Club also issued a Halloween themed doll in 2011 with Halloween Haunt, the first in a line of Holiday themed club dolls. Another collection of spooky themed collector dolls are the Haunted Beauty collection. This collection features a ghost, a vampire and the soon-to-be-released Lady of the Manor. These dolls are definitely for the collector, but if you love Halloween Barbie dolls, these are not to be missed!
