Barbie Millicent Roberts Collection Part 3

The final year of the Barbie Millicent Roberts collection went back to the basics, with a doll, two extra outfits and a fashion created for the Barbie Collector Club.
This time, the doll had short red hair and was dressed in a pinstriped suit with a white sleeveless blouse and matching skirt for an evening look. She came with a newspaper and coffee cup, so I always pictured her as a high powered executive or the president of her own company, whereas the first doll made me think she was younger and more of a socialite and the second doll seemed more worldly to me.
Pinstripe Power
The first outfit is a gardening outfit, complete with gardening tools and clogs! I thought this was adorable!
Green Thumb
The second outfit was a winter outfit, complete with silver mittens. I mean, who doesn't want silver mittens?! The green jacket went well with her red hair.
Snow Chic, So Chic
The club outfit was a turquoise blue dress with a coat and hat. It came with a painting and a ticket for the opening. For some reason, I cannot find my own outfit, so this image came from Pinterest.

All in all, I loved this collection and was sad to see it end. I loved the details and the accessories! I hope to have another collection that will have dolls with outfits to dress them in, along with little stories to illustrate how Barbie wore the outfits. Fingers crossed!

Barbie Millicent Roberts Collection Part 2

The next entry into our look through the Barbie Millicent Roberts Collection is Perfectly Suited Barbie. She was released in 1997 with a few more extras than the previous year and her boxes were given colors other than Barbie pink. The initial doll came with an outfit for the day and a top, stockings, panties, jewelry and shoes for a night out.
Perfectly Suited
Three outfits, a set of luggage and four sets of accessories were released for this line! This was the biggest line of the Barbie Millicent Roberts collection! I remember seeing this outfit at Toys R Us. An outfit with a bathing suit! Perfect for a cruise!

Very nautical!
The doll wearing this outfit in the promo was Matinee Today. I love the tennis racket cover and water bottle holder!

Tennis, anyone?
This outfit makes me think of the Eastern Coastal states, for some reason, what with the yellow raincoat and hat. Looks cozy for a chilly, rainy day though!

City Slicker
The luggage set seemed to match the plaid fabric of City Slicker. I thought it was adorable and so coordinated! I could only hope to have a set of luggage which matched!

Jet Set
The accessory kits were adorable, but some of them didn't match the released outfits, so it was up to the dresser of the doll to pick an outfit for them.
Very green!
Red hot indeed!
Signature, but not pink!
Black and white, so right!
All in all, I felt this year was the best year in the Barbie Millicent Roberts collection, due to content. Many different options for redressing in this year's offering, even though the accessories didn't match the outfits! Still, I enjoyed the options available.

Barbie Millicent Roberts Collection

As Barbie lovers know, Barbie's full name is Barbara (Barbie) Millicent Roberts. In 1996, Mattel released a collection called, appropriately enough, the Barbie Millicent Roberts Collection. The initial collection included a dressed doll with an extra outfit, called Matinee Today, and two other outfits, Goin' to the Game and Picnic Perfect, sold separately. Also, the Barbie Collector Club issued a club exclusive for the collection as well called Date at Eight! This was included in the club set you received in the mail when you signed up.
Two other dolls with extra fashions were produced before the series ended. I will feature these in the next two posts.
As I've deboxed the doll, I don't have any pictures of her in the box. Also the fashions have all been deboxed as well as I love this collection and the different outfits, so I couldn't wait to dress her in each one!
The doll itself came dressed in a lovely lingerie set with a teddy, robe, stockings and mules.

The second outfit was a black bodysuit, black skirt, pink jacket with black trim, black stockings and black pumps, Accessories were included to complete the outfit.

The extra outfits were adorable! My favorite is Goin' to the Game, which is an outfit for a chilly fall day at the football game. The promo showed a white knit hat was to come with it, but wasn't included in the finished product. Inside the bag are a stadium blanket, binoculars, a program and a team flag to cheer with!

All dressed for the game!
Picnic Perfect was a bit confusing to me. The top and skirt were of a heavier material than the shorts and jacket, so they didn't match well, but the jacket didn't close, so Barbie would be flashing everyone if she didn't wear the top! The set also came with a picnic blanket and settings for two.

The club fashion was pretty and the doll looked lovely for her "Date at Eight"! I love the little compact as it is metal! It reminds me of the vintage accessories Mattel made for Barbie. The stockings were thigh high stockings as well, not tights.

This collection satisfied my need of having one doll and extra outfits to redress her in. Plus some of the items could be mixed and matched for multiple looks! Stay tuned for the next doll in the series!

Haunted Beauty Series Finale

I'm sad to say this wonderful series, Haunted Beauty, has come to an end. I love this series as it's collectible Halloween dolls for adults, so it's not all pink and cute. Not that I have issues with the playline Halloween Barbie dolls, obviously! It's been refreshing to have a sophisticated Halloween doll every year and now it's over.
But, if the series has to end, at least it ended on a high note! The Haunted Beauty Zombie Bride doll is GORGEOUS! I didn't have the pleasure of opening her myself as my husband did it for me, so I don't have any pictures of her still in the box.

And so ends another great series! I hope you love these dolls as much as I do! Happy Halloween everyone!

Truly Outrageous Jem!

In honor of the Jem and the Holograms movie released this past weekend, I present the truly outrageous JEM!
A little back story first. One Saturday morning, I was browsing the channels for something to watch. I came across this program, Super Saturday, which had a segment called Jem. I didn't get to see it from the beginning, but came in on "episode 9" as I like to refer to it. It was the part where Jem and the Holograms perform on Lin-Z's show and the set starts to fall on Jem for the cliffhanger. I'd missed the following week, so I didn't get to see her get rescued until the repeats, but didn't miss an episode after this!
When I found out Hasbro was going to be releasing a line of dolls based on this cartoon, I was psyched! I couldn't wait to get my hands on these dolls! I scoured the stores looking for them! For some reason, I was expecting them to be smaller than Barbies, like about 6 inches tall. Imagine my surprise when I saw they were a little bigger than Barbie!
The colors, the fashions, the GORGEOUS artwork on the boxes! I just couldn't get enough! I remember seeing a mother buying a doll for her daughter and thinking that little girl was so lucky! I was finally able to get one for myself! It was AMAZING! I still have my original, but wanted to get another one still in the box, so when I was older and had some money, I found one fairly cheap on Ebay (my best friend for finding dolls from my past!). I kept her in the box and was thankful I did so, for two years ago, Christy Marx, the creator of Jem, was at ComiCon! I was able to meet her and to have her sign my doll! It was a dream come true!

Autographed by Christy Marx herself!

The gorgeous front of the box
The stunning back of the box
This is the only doll I've kept in the box from the Jem line. I don't have all of the dolls, but I'm still hopeful one I day I will. I will showcase the dolls I do have in another, future post, but for now, the one and only Jem! TRULY OUTRAGEOUS!

The Barbie Diaries - Part 2

As promised, this post will showcase the fashions which were available for The Barbie Diaries dolls as well as the two playsets. As I mentioned in the previous post, Barbie and her friends all had additional outfits, but sadly her rival, Raquelle, did not. Each set came with three outfits for the dolls, a dress, a top and jeans and another top and skirt or pants. They also came with two pairs of footwear, a purse and jewelry.

The playsets were cute! One side was lightly stuffed so you could have it as a decorative pillow, then the back opened up to reveal a playset with a fashion for Barbie and some small pieces for play!

This was a very cute line of dolls and I was happy with them! As I've said, the only drawback for me was lack of additional fashions for Raquelle. Until next time, take care and have fun!
